Aspinall seals the home tour title

Aspinall seals the home tour title

On the final night of action in the PDC Home Tour, Nathan Aspinall sealed the title with three wins. After 43 nights and 258 matches of home darts, it was the former UK Open and US Darts Master that came through the 101 field.

The final night saw Aspinall, Gary Anderson, Jonny Clayton and Jelle Klaasen all vying for the title. The two favourites for the title were Anderson and Aspinall, with the pair both winning their opening matches. Anderson a 6-2 winner over Clayton, Aspinall 6-3 over Klaasen.

The match that effectively decided the title was the showdown between Anderson and Aspinall. With the score at 5-5, it was Aspinall who held his throw to win the all-important two points. Meaning that heading into his last game, Aspinall knew a win would see him as champion.

The last match was full of drama, as Aspinall raced into a lead. Only to be pegged back by Clayton. Then a scoring surge from Aspinall saw him edge clear, with the score at 5-4 Aspinall would throw for the match. The Asp didn’t disappoint with a solid hold of throw sealing the title.

Well done to all involved with the PDC Home Tour. Now all eyes turn towards regular darts returning. With this afternoon the PDC announcing the World Matchplay would go ahead in July. News about the return of the Pro Tours is expected next week, as the return of professional sports gathers pace.
