The Winmau Challenge Tour resumed this weekend as five events took place in Hildesheim across Friday to Sunday.
Friday – Events 11 & 12
Danny van Trijp claimed Event 11 on Friday
The Dutch duo of Danny van Trijp and Gian van Veen took home the honours on Friday as the action got underway.
Van Trijp claimed the notable scalp of Karel Sedlacek in the semi finals, winning out in a last leg decider. He then followed that up with a victory over former Lakeside Champion Jelle Klaasen in the final to claim Event 11.
Van Veen had already posted one ton plus average by the time he posted another in a whitewash victory of Davy Proosten in his semi final. He maintained his impressive form in the final of Event 12, averaging 97 as he beat David Pallett in a deciding leg.
Saturday – Events 13 & 14
Jurjen van der Velde won Event 13 on Saturday
Jurjen van der Velde and Kenny Neyens entered the winners circle on Saturday on the back of solid performances.
Van der Velde staged a remarkable comeback after finding himself 3-0 in the final of Event 13 to Welshman Robert Owen. The 19 year old Dutch rising star then reeled off five consecutive legs to stun Owen and claim the £2,000 top prize.
Belgian Neyens beat Chas Barstow, Graham Usher and Jelle Klaasen on his way to the Event 14 final, where he faced Michael Flynn. Neyens also found himself 3-0 down before hitting back to lead 4-3. Flynn forced a decider but Neyens closed out victory in 18 darts.
A series of high quality performances from Pallett, whose lowest average of the day was 90, earned him a place in the final against Dennie Olde Kalter.
Pallett raced into a 4-1 lead before Olde Kalter claimed back to back legs. Pallett wasn’t to be denied however and an 18 dart break of throw was enough for victory.
