Humphries stars, Noppert wins an all-Dutch classic and Joyce impresses, ET2 Day 2 Recap

World number one Luke Humphries got his German Darts Grand Prix campaign off to the best possible start as he defeats Luke Woodhouse 6-3 in the second round, where he averaged 108 and hit high checkouts of 140, 170 and 161 on his way.

An incredible game of standard between Danny Noppert and Gian van Veen provided one of the games of the night, which saw 11 legs of incredible action between the two as they average 104 and 108 respectively.

Ross Smith kicked off proceedings with a dominant 6-1 win over Brendan Dolan, with fellow Northern Irishman Josh Rock getting over the line against Richard Veenstra in a last leg decider.

The 2016 Challenge Tour tour card winners Rob Cross and Ryan Searle both sealed comfortable 6-2 wins over Daryl Gurney and Steve Lennon.

Jermaine Wattimena makes it two dominant performances this weekend as he faced an off colour Stephen Bunting, winning 6-2. A big run this weekend could catapult his chances on making the last spots in the World Matchplay.

Another player on the outskirts of the World Matchplay spots is Martin Schindler, who impressed in a 6-1 win over Damon Heta – this win means he is one win away from putting himself in contention to feature at the famous Winter Gardens stage.

Ryan Joyce and Cameron Menzies continued on their quests to picking up a potential first European Tour title.

Premier League participants Nathan Aspinall, Michael Smith and Gerwyn Price all won 6-4 and displayed some quality stuff in their paths to victory. World number two Michael Van Gerwen also won 6-4 despite averaging 18 points higher than fellow countryman Jeffrey de Zwaan.
