Lee Cocks wins his first PDC Challenge Tour in Hildesheim

Lee Cocks rounds off the weekend of Challenge Tour action by picking up his first PDC title in Hildesheim.

A brutal opening round draw against Darryl Pilgrim in the L256 occurred, which saw Cocks recover from 3-0 down to win 5 legs in-a-row to progress through where he averaged 94 in the process.

Following this victory, the games that came after were all one way traffic. Comfortable wins over Nicolas Thuillier, Marcel Bos, James Welding and Adam Paxton put him through to the quarter-finals for the first time this weekend.

His quarter-final encounter against Mike Warburton was his toughest challenge thus far which saw him winning in a last leg decider. A crucial break of throw in the second leg before holding to establish a 3-1 lead gave him a slight edge, before the remaining legs all went with throw as he held his nerve all the way through.

As he faced Derk Telnekes in the semi-finals, he came from 3-2 down to win three on the trot to reach the final. 21, 20 and 27 dart legs were enough to get through, even if it wasn’t his best stuff of the day.

The confidence from that win, even though he played far from his best stuff, helped him to play a lot better in the final. He took on Dutchman Wesley Plaisier and whitewashed him, with his second highest average of the day of 93.94. All legs were won in 18 or fewer before pinning D10 to win his first PDC title.
