Jurgen Klopp’s commendation, according to Luke Littler, was “literally another day in my life.”

The 17-year-old’s incredible run in the PDC World Darts Championship, which came to an end on January 3 when Luke Humphries defeated him 7-4 at Ally Pally to win the title, made him a national celebrity.

Littler, known as “The Nuke,” did win the Bahrain Masters and pocket an additional £20,000 after defeating Michael van Gerwen in the championship match. He also received £200,000 for coming in second place.

After a low-key 17th birthday celebration in his hometown of Warrington, Littler proceeded to defeat Humphries in the Dutch Masters semifinals but lost to MVG in the championship match.

Having only become a professional in January, he had a hectic few weeks that culminated in a call-up and Premier League debut.

Everyone is impressed by his accomplishments, even the great Liverpool football manager, Jurgen Klopp.

The Liverpool manager likened his youthful players to Littler after they assisted Liverpool in defeating Chelsea in the Carabao Cup Final last weekend.

When questioned about the compliment, the darts ace appeared unfazed. On Friday, he defeated James Wade to go to the UK Open final 32.

Littler said: “I gave it a like and went on to the next video. That was literally another day in my life.”

Manchester United fan Littler added: “I actually watched the final and the young lads are doing well, but if he wants to compare them to me then he can.”

Littler averaged over 102 and had four 100-plus finishes while defeating Wade 10-7, and he is currently the tournament favourite following Michael van Gerwen’s opening-night loss to Austria’s Mensur Suljovic.

On his prospects of collecting his first major championship since joining the main PDC Tour, Littler said: “I have not even thought about it, but I know if my game is there every match, I don’t see why I can’t win it.”

“I don’t mind who I play. It is what I dreamed of, playing in front of thousands every week, I just take it in my stride.”
