Barry Hearn Refuses To Rule Out The Possibility Of The PDC World Championships Moving Abroad

PDC Chairman Barry Hearn refuses to rule out the possibility of moving the PDC World Championships abroad if there are still no fans allowed in the UK.

With so much uncertainly around at the moment due to COVID 19, PDC Chairman Barry Hearn says there is a possibility we might see the William Hill World Darts Championship outside the UK if it means that fans can attend.

Since the COVID 19 shutdown in March, all sport is currently being played behind closed doors. The PDC brought live darts back to our TV’s last month with the Betfred World Matchplay. Next week sees the return of the Unibet Premier League, sadly still behind closed doors at Milton Keynes.

Hearn was talking exclusively to Online Darts at the Targets Sports Star Fishing. When asked could the World Championships be moved abroad if there were still no fans allowed at UK events.

What Hearn Said

“It’s possible, It’s complicated, but it’s possible. At the moment all options are open, and we are going for gold.

“As we always do we are going for a full house Alexandra Palace as normal. But we are going to be led by the data, as they say, we are going to be led by the science that’s what the government keeps telling us. I don’t know what that means by the way.

“ We are keeping our fingers crossed.”

Hearn goes on to say

“ My personal feeling is this COVID 19 is, until we get a vaccine I think we are going to have to live with it. And live has got to back to normal.

“Otherwise the economic effect of the whole country will be something our children and our children’s children will be paying for.

“So as much as it’s a marginal risk, I think we have to go back to normal somehow or the other.”
