Ryan Searle feels he’s not far away after hours of being “Battered” by Gary Anderson
Ryan Searle believes that he is ready to take the next step in his career and the hour of practice with Gary Anderson is paying off.
“He absolutely batters me in practice he’s unbelievable. But I’m not that far away,” Searle says of Anderson. “He could win the worlds this year easy.”
Searle came through a tough tie that could have gone either way against Damon Heta, in one of the ties of the opening round of the World Grand Prix.
Heavy Metal is defending a hefty chunk of ranking money in the backend of 2023 but feels his game is in the best places it has been.
The victory over Heta will be a huge confidence builder for Searle as he broke down the game in his post-match media.
“I felt like I was playing really well and I lost the first set. He was just starting so well with the throw and you know, in this format it’s all about starting. If you can start you can do damage. It was tight. I was twitching a bit too fast so I’m happy with how I held on.”
“The main thing that matters to me is just playing well. I know that if I play well then I’ll win, it’s basically as simple as that.”
