2024 BetMGM Premier League Darts: Night Fifteen Preview

The penultimate night of the 2024 BetMGM Premier League takes place at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, with two play-off spots still available after Luke Littler and Luke Humphries earned the first two on offer on Night Fourteen of the BetMGM Premier League.

Night Fourteen belonged to the current leader in the rankings, Luke Littler, who earned his fourth nightly win and second in a row. Nathan Aspinall, Michael Van Gerwen, Michael Smith, and Rob Cross are still in contention for a spot in the prestigious playoffs.

The Nuke had a great performance last time out, averaging above 100 on two of the three matches and recording multiple high checkouts throughout the night, including a 144, 124, and 105.

Will Night Fifteen be the night the Nuke is detonated again?

The 2023 Premier League Winner and Runner-up Collide

In the night’s first quarter-final, the Dutch Number One, Michael Van Gerwen, will face the Welsh Number One, Gerwyn Price. Where it appears that the Iceman will return to duty following a brief back ailment.

The Welshman is still searching for his first nightly triumph in the 2024 BetMGM Premier League. But it doesn’t get any harder when he faces seven-time winner Michael Van Gerwen. Despite not being in the same form as he was at the start of the season, he continues to be placed in the playoffs.

The two had previously met on Night eight with Gerwyn Price taking the bragging rights in a last-leg decider. They combined for ten 180s and each took out a ton plus checkout.

Will the World number three be able to extract revenge?

Top of the Standings faces up to Bottom of the Standings

Luke Littler’s debut season in the BetMGM Premier League has been a fairytale: after fourteen weeks, he has secured a play-off position with two weeks to go. Humphries is the only contender with a tiny chance of capturing pole position, when the first of two sessions takes place in Leeds for Night Fifteen of the BetMGM Premier League.

Although Snake Bite has battled for form during the competition and is the only player who has failed to make a nightly final, he is now eight points behind his nearest competitor, Gerwyn Price.

Previously, the two faced off in the Quarter Finals on Night Four, the adolescent phenom Luke Littler proved to be too strong for the experienced Peter Wright.

Will he do it again?

The self proclaimed Leeds United fan takes on Voltage

Luke Humphries, the current World Number One, hopes to build on his excellent showing from this campaign when he faces Rob Cross again.

Although not mathematically impossible, it is unlikely that the World Number Six will make it to the final four; inconsistency appears to be the deciding factor for Rob Cross in the BetMGM Premier League.

Will the current World Champion be able to maintain his momentum as he attempts to add to his trophy collection, and will Humphries recover from his Semi-final failure last time out, when Cross defeated him by a one-leg margin?

Or will Cross continue to attempt to attain the impossible?

The Game with Big Stakes

Finally, Nathan Aspinall and Michael Smith will face battle in the night’s last quarterfinal. Victory is critical for both as they aim to seal a spot in the final four ahead of week sixteen of the BetMGM Premier League.

The Bully Boy comes into the matchup, fresh off his most recent triumph in the Players Championship, which ended an eleven-month drought without trophy, maybe at a critical juncture, as the margin between the two remains mere three points.

The Asp will be cautious that the duo will meet again, having clashed twice previously, with the Asp defeating Smith on both occasions in tight contests.
