Fallon Sherrock will play at the World Championship and increase prize money for the Women’s Series

The Professional Darts Corporation has announced an increase in prize money for the PDC Women’s Series as well as a third-place finish in the Cazoo World Darts Championship.

The PDC has made a number of changes in recent years to improve women’s darts, including qualifying spots in the World Darts Championship and Grand Slam of Darts, as well as the introduction of the PDC Women’s Series.

In addition, an eight-player Betfred Women’s World Matchplay and a full 20-event PDC Women’s Series circuit were held in Blackpool this year.

In the first of a series of prize fund increases across the PDC circuit to be confirmed in the coming weeks, prize money on the PDC Women’s Series will increase to £10,000 per event.

Following the expansion of the PDC Women’s Series to 24 events over six weekends in 2023, prize money of £240,000 will be available next year.

Furthermore, the Betfred Women’s World Matchplay winner will receive a place in the Cazoo World Darts Championship beginning with the 2022/23 event, as inaugural champion Fallon Sherrock returns to Alexandra Palace next month.

Sherrock defeated Aileen de Graaf in the Women’s World Matchplay decider in Blackpool in July, and said: “That was a wonderful day for me and I’m proud to have won, and it’s great that I will now get to go back to Ally Pally.

“The PDC have done amazing things for women’s darts in recent years and that’s given us players a platform to play at the highest level.”

Sherrock will compete in this year’s World Darts Championship alongside the top two players from the PDC Women’s Series Order of Merit, Lisa Ashton and Beau Greaves, three years after her historic victories over Ted Evetts and Mensur Suljovic.
