PDC boosts Prize funds for Winmau Challenge & Development Tours
Increased prize money will be available for Winmau Challenge Tour and Winmau Development Tour events beginning in 2023, adding to the PDC’s secondary tours.
Next year’s Challenge and Development Tours will feature 24 events, with a £15,000 prize fund up for grabs in each event, including an additional £2,500 for each winner.
Following Monday’s increase in prize money for the PDC Women’s Series, over £1m will be awarded across the PDC’s secondary tours in 2023, including the World Youth Championship.
The Challenge Tour allows non-Tour Card Holders of any age who participated in the most recent Qualifying School to compete in PDC events.
The overall Challenge Tour Order of Merit winner will follow in the footsteps of Scott Williams, who won a two-year PDC Tour Card and a spot in the World Championship.
Winmau Development Tour allows young players between the ages of 16 and 23 to compete in PDC events.
The overall Development Tour Order of Merit winner will receive a two-year PDC Tour Card and a spot in the World Championship, a feat accomplished by Nathan Rafferty in 2022.
The annual Development Tour season is followed by the Winmau World Youth Championship, with this year’s final set to take place in Minehead on Sunday and featuring Josh Rock and Nathan Girvan.
