Nathan Aspinall explains obscene hand gesture
Nathan Aspinall booked his place in the last 8 of the Grand Slam of Darts as he defeated Jermaine Wattimnea, but all the talk after the tie was the hand gesture caught on camera by Aspinall.
Aspinall’s frustrations in his second session boiled over and resulted in an obscene hand gesture, which he realised he made on camera and tried to play off, and he stated first and foremost that it was not directed at Wattimena.
“It wasn’t no gesture towards Jermaine, it was purely how I played in the second session. I did it, shouldn’t have done it. It was purely one of those spur of the moment things, it is what it is nothing I can do now.”
“It is the story of my life. It’s doing my head in, it’s doing my manager’s head in, it’s doing my family’s head in. I came out really well 4-1 up. Felt the 180’s were flowing, finishing was flowing. Felt really good in my game and I walked out after the break and it was just rubbish. He obviously comes back to 6-4 and I’m like go back to the 15-20 minutes ago and close this game out because you’re the better player. I was playing better than Jermaine and I deserved to win, the last few legs I was really happy with how I played.”
