World Champion Michael Smith has fired a warning to the rest of the PDC field after night 14 of the Premier League in Manchester “If I’m in that mood, no-one can touch me”

Smith averaged 110 in defeating Jonny Clayton in the final in Manchester, securing his place in the Premier League Darts play-offs, which will take place at the end of this month at the O2 in London.

Smith now has back-to-back night wins and can look forward to a trip to the O2, and he was in a confident mood afterwards, as he takes his tally of nightly wins to three. The world number one is now eyeing up the final two nights to overtake Gerywn Price for nightly wins. 

“If I’m in that mood, no-one can touch me. I can literally go 180, 180, 180 every single time and as long as I’m not hitting nine-darters, I’m leaving a double every time.

“I just wish it come more often but that’s darts. It doesn’t happen all the time as if it did, I’d win every single event.”

Last week, Peter Wright spurned his handshake and he said that he has since apologised for it.

“He came and apologised and said someone annoyed him in the crowd but the funny thing was the whole crowd was for him. When he beat me in Holland, I put on Twitter but I deleted it that at least he shook me hand this time.

“I’ve been there a few times when you get the wet fish, it’s darts at the end of the day. But tonight in the practice room, it was all smiles.”
