Day Three of Final Stage sees Hempel and Jones win cards

Florian Hempel and Jake Jones each won finals on day three of PDC Q-School Final Stage to secure their two year Tour Cards.

Hempel was arguably the most consistent player at European Q-School. He averaged under 90 just once, eventually beating Luc Peters 6-2 in the final.

It was a much tougher day for Jones in UK Q-School. He came through four last leg deciders, including a 6-5 win over Gordon Mathers in the final, to win his place on the Pro Tour.

Jones was not the only player in the UK to win a Tour Card though, as:

  • Jack Main
  • Martin Lukeman and
  • Lewis Williams

All secured their spot on the Pro Tour via the Order of Merit.

After an 85.5 average in his first game, a 6-3 victory over Jeremy Van der Winkel, Hempel was hardly pressured.

He hit averages around 95 all day, including a 101.1 in his semi final, as he beat:

  • Lukas Wenig
  • Brian Raman
  • Niels Zonneveld
  • Martin Schindler
  • John Michael
  • and Luc Peters in the final

6-2 in every game. It means the German will be on the Pro Tour for the first time in his career. He joins Geert De Vos and Geert Nentjes as qualifiers from European Q-School.

Elsewhere, no one in Europe has earned their card via the Order of Merit. However, with draws tomorrow, they could be in without throwing a dart.

Raymond van Barneveld will likely need to win a point tomorrow to get his Tour Card back.

Jones survives four last leg deciders to win spot

Jake Jones came through an extremely tough day to win his Tour Card for the first time.

He beat Eddie Lovely, Liam Meek and John O’Shea to win Board 10, before winning 6-0 against Robert Thornton in the last 16.

Two last leg wins against Lovely and O’Shea became three, as he held out against John Brown. A 6-4 victory against Martin Thomas in the semi finals saw him play a final against Gordon Mathers.

From 4-3 down, Jones came back to win a topsy turvy contest, taking out 72 to seal the deal.

Jake Jones also won his Tour Card on Day Three of PDC Q-School Final Stage.

Elsewhere, three players have also won their Tour Card via the UK Q-School Order of Merit.

Jack Main, Martin Lukeman and Lewis Williams have all won enough points over the last three days to win their Tour Card.
