Mason hits out at WDF – “They don’t know what they’re doing”
Chris Mason has hit out at the WDF Board stating “They don’t know what they’re doing”
Mace The Ace, a former professional turned pundit and commentator was talking to Online Darts Phill Barrs’ in a regular sit-down interview.
The 53-year-old has recently returned to the oche, tasting success in the MODUS Super Series and participating in the World Seniors Darts Tour. However, Mason is perhaps most known now for his work with ITV and TalkSport.
The WDF have come under much criticism in recent years, from cancelling the BDO Trophy to the rescheduling of the 2023 World Championship.
However, it is their handling of the Winmau World Masters that upset the former England International the most. “I mean they ruined the event as soon as they changed it from sets to legs” said Mason, ‘They don’t know what they’re doing”
“If you can not sell and get sponsorship for an event of that prestige, the oldest tournament currently in darts then sorry again not fit for purpose,”
The World Masters will not take place in 2023, after the WDF confirmed they had been unable to get everything signed off before their self-imposed June deadline, leaving the future of the event in uncertainty.
