Modern Amateur Darts Plans A New Dawn.

Today saw what is hoped by many as a new dawn for amateur darts, as Modern Amateur Darts (MAD Darts) have launched their plans for the amateur game. JDC Chairman Steve Brown is behind the MAD Darts structure of the game. Brown has taken junior darts to a new level with JDC and now has he eyes set on making the amateur game the same way.

Steve Brown “ After many years of thinking about this, we’ve finally decided to make this step and look after those amateur darts players that have been forgetting about over the last 20 years.”

Brown, who came through the BDO system himself before joining the PDC, feels the pain of the long-standing amateur players. After seeing what has happened in the BDO if felt enough was enough.

“For me personally just watch the demise of the world championships last year and all the negativity surrounding it from my armchair and thought I could really do a better job than that.”

Brown thinks the team around him, is the best to lead amateur darts into the future. More new will be released over the next few weeks. On how MAD Darts events and points will work, once we are allowed to play face to face again.

Brown has said that as part of these plans there will be an amateur world championship, that will give all these players something to aim at. Could this mean a return do the home of world darts, the Lakeside in the future?

For the first time in a long time, this feels as if there is real hope for amateur darts, with people at the top know and having the best interests of the sport at heart.

With big names in the sport such as Phil Taylor, Raymond van Barneveld, Paul Nicholson, Mark Webster, Darryl Fitton and Bobby George all pledging their support to MAD.
