ADC President Steve Brown opens up about darts amateur game following the news of the WDF Masters being cancelled and the continued rise of the ADC. Brown talks about the importance of players having trust in the brand, something that the WDF may have lost over the last year.

Brown’s organisation the Amateur Darts Circuit (ADC) has gone from tenth to strength over the last 18 months, but Brown has been disappointed in the way other organisations have resented them

“We were disappointed 18 months ago. We had a really good proposal. If I’m honest the other organisations have had a pretty bad attitude towards us. So no there hasn’t been any more communication neither with the EDO or people like that, there really negative towards us”

The WDF World Championship was previously relocated from early January to the end of the year, and the World Masters won’t happen again until 2024.

“I wouldn’t want to be on the WDF board at the moment. That’s a thankless task. It’s a big old ship to turn around.”

“If you cancel your two biggest events, players are going to lose faith in the tour. It’s a costly tour to do as it is and the prize money is not great. For the players, they’ve got a tough decision to make.”

“Listen I’m a darts fan first so when big events get cancelled it’s not good for darts,” Brown continued. “I can’t take any glory in other people’s failures, for us it’s just about staying in your lane and keep doing what we’re doing.”
