Gary Anderson faced Gerwyn Price at Aldersley Leisure Village for the first time since 2018 Grand Slam of Darts Final with Gary Anderson prevailing this time

Night Five at 2023 Grand Slam of Darts also saw wins for James Wade, Josh Rock, and Luke Humphries

Anderson Flying Into The Last Eight

A rematch of the 2018 Grand Slam of Darts Final saw Gary Anderson go head to head, and it was the turn of Gary Anderson to be victorious defeating Gerwyn Price 10-6.

Gary Anderson started the strongest and found the first break of the game in leg three, and lead at the interval 3-2.

Price did find an early break when the players returned, however the floor form of Gary Anderson was on show on the TV stage, firing in a 12 dart break of throw.

A strong hold of throw from both players in legs eight and nine, before Gerwyn Price had two darts at tops to level and when he missed outside with both, Anderson punished and had a two leg lead once again.

Anderson continue on the rampage with when he made it three legs on the spin, to lead 8-4. The fightback looked on for Price after winning two legs, however, another two darts was missed at tops.

The Flying Scotsman had hit 180 in his previous visit and a 81 checkout in two was a killer blow for Anderson, and he sealed the victory in the next leg.

Humphries Too Cool For Heavy Metal

Luke Humphries continued his fight for a second tv title in two months, when he defeated Ryan Searle 10-7 at 2023 Grand Slam of Darts.

Cool Hand had double trouble early on, and had darts in all of the opening five legs but found himself a leg behind at the interval.

There wasn’t a lot to split the pair in the second interval, and Searle had the opportunity to make sure it was all square at the break and once he missed Cool Hand took a two leg lead for the first time in the game.

Humphries found another gear and extended the lead to four, leading 9-5 and he could have sealed the result within 15 legs, however he only had to wait another couple of legs before making it into the last eight.

Wade Waded Dobey, as Rocky defeated Polish Eagle

James Wade secures a place in the last eight of the Grand Slam of Darts defeating Chris Dobey 10-8.

Dobey had the early advantage leading by one at the break, before Wade won four of the next five to lead 6-4.

The Machine finishing was too good for Dobey, finishing on 41% on the outer ring, and he found another sprint of legs taking three of the next four to move one away.

Dobey didn’t give it up without a fight and closed the gap to just one, but two missed darts at double 18 gave one of the best finishers in the world an opportunity to seal the win and Wadey took it.

James Wade Quarter Final will be against the young Northern Ireland star on Friday evening.

Josh Rock defeated Polish Eagle in the opening last 16 tie of the 2023 Grand Slam of Darts.

Rocky controlled proceedings from the first dart to the last and will need to continue that form when he takes on the experience Machine that is James Wade in Wolverhampton.
