Francis, Self, Davies and Hall seal ADC Global Championship places, while Hedman and Hayter dominate landmark WADC weekend

The Amateur Darts Circuit brought the curtain down on its Winmau Championship South season at Bradmoor Farm this weekend, with four men’s titles decided across two days and the qualification picture for the Winmau Championship Grand Finals and ADC Global Championship confirmed.

Alongside the men’s finale, the Women’s Amateur Darts Circuit staged Events Five to Eight of its Winmau Championship South campaign — the penultimate weekend of the WADC season — with the strongest women’s field assembled at the venue to date.

MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP SOUTH — EVENTS 9-12

Saturday: Brown and Coleman claim titles

Darren Brown, competing on the Tour for the first time this season, made up for lost time in impressive fashion.

Brown came through from the last 256, opening his campaign with a 98.25 average before dropping just a handful of legs on his route to the Event Nine title.

A 90.44 average saw off Archie Self in the quarter-finals, before Brown produced a dominant 5-1 victory over Steve West to reach the stage.

There, he defeated Jack Drayton 5-3 to secure the £1,000 top prize.

Ashley Coleman claimed the Event Ten crown later on Saturday, edging past Neil Duff 5-4 in a high-quality semi-final before producing a commanding 5-1 victory against Harry Lane in the final.

Coleman finished the event with a tournament average of 82.60 and a first-nine average of 95.35.

Lane had earlier defeated Dan Hands 5-3 in the semi-finals, having also overcome Lewis Cook in the quarter-finals.

The day also produced the weekend’s standout scoring performances, with Chas Barstow averaging 111.33 in a last-256 whitewash, while Drayton posted a 103.66 average in the same round.

Sunday: Drayton and Crook complete South season

Drayton did not have to wait long to go one better.

The Fleetwood man, who has impressed on the PDC Winmau Development Tour, opened Sunday with a 98.20 average before surviving last-leg thrillers against Liam Earwicker and Archie Self.

He produced a scoring clinic in the Event 11 final, averaging over 94 in a 5-2 victory against Michael Wiles to claim his first title of the season and maximum ranking points.

The final champion of the South season was Roger Crook, who saved the drama for last.

Backed by a large contingent of friends and family, Crook dropped just two legs on his way to the last 32 before edging home favourite Adam Mould in a deciding-leg quarter-final.

He then defeated Jamie Kelling 5-3 to reach the Event 12 decider, where he held his nerve to edge Harrison Leigh 5-4.

A nerveless 100 finish in the deciding leg sealed the £1,000 winner’s cheque and a hugely popular victory for Crook.

Callum Francis held on to top spot following a campaign built on relentless consistency, finishing 13 points clear of Archie Self.

Self ended the season with the best running average in the field at 88.36, while Francis, Self, Dai Davies and Graham Hall secured the top four places and, as a result, their places at both the Winmau Championship Grand Finals and ADC Global Championship.

Lewis Cook, Alan Slater, Dan Nicholls and Chas Barstow completed the top eight and also secured qualification for the Grand Finals.

Ashley Coleman’s Event Ten victory lifted him to ninth on 460 points, while Crook finished tenth on 414 following his title success.

Both enjoyed excellent campaigns but narrowly missed out on qualification.

The Winmau Championship Grand Finals will take place on Saturday October 3 and Sunday October 4 at MODUS Live Lounge in Portsmouth, with the top eight players from the North and South meeting in a 16-player field.

WADC CHAMPIONSHIP SOUTH — EVENTS 5-8

The Women’s Amateur Darts Circuit produced two double winners across the weekend, with Gemma Hayter and Deta Hedman dominating the penultimate South weekend.

Saturday: Hayter doubles up

Saturday belonged to Gemma Hayter.

The newly crowned World Masters champion claimed both titles on offer, adding her second and third crowns of the campaign while strengthening her position at the top of the South standings.

Event Five proved to be the more difficult of the two, with Hayter edging an absorbing 5-4 final against in-form Vicky Pruim.

She had opened her campaign with a 95.43 average in a whitewash victory over Rose Mort.

Event Six provided another marquee moment, as Hayter survived a deciding-leg thriller against Deta Hedman in the last 64 before defeating Steph Clarke and Macy Gibbons.

An 81.41 average saw her defeat Mort in the semi-finals, before Hayter produced an 83.50 average to sweep Eve Watson 5-0 in the final.

Watson had produced the individual performance of the day on her run to the final, averaging 97.70 in a 5-1 quarter-final victory against Pruim before defeating Trina Gulliver 5-2 in the last four.

Sunday: Hedman responds with a double

Sunday belonged to Deta Hedman.

The WDF World Champion bounced back from her Saturday disappointment to claim both remaining titles.

Hedman first defeated Fallon Sherrock 5-3 in the Event Seven final after dropping just one leg on her way to the quarter-finals.

She then produced an 89.46 average to whitewash Watson in the semi-finals, before finishes of 80 and 58 helped her establish a 4-1 lead against Sherrock.

The debutant Sherrock fought back with checkouts of 104 and 88 to reduce the deficit to 4-3, but Hedman held her nerve to find double five and secure the £500 winner’s cheque.

The Caribbean Queen then completed her double by defeating Hayter 5-3 in the semi-finals before producing a commanding 5-0 victory over Steph Clarke in the Event Eight final.

Hedman opened the final with a 90 checkout and completed the victory with an average above 80.

Hayter leads the South standings by 41 points from Hedman, with Watson and Gulliver level on 126 points in third and fourth respectively.

Sherrock sits ninth on 60 points after competing for just one weekend, but already boasts the best running average in the field at 77.49.

That makes the former World Championship finalist the most dangerous unqualified player heading into the final stage of the campaign.

The final four events of the WADC Winmau Championship South season will take place at Bradmoor Farm on October 24-25.

The WADC Grand Finals will then be staged at MODUS Live Lounge in Portsmouth on November 21-22, 2026.
