David Cameron dismantled the field to win the 2026 CDC Cross Border Challenge 

David Cameron delivered a superb run of form to defeat Adam Sevada and secure the 2026 CDC Cross-Border Darts Challenge title in Newfoundland on Saturday.

The fourth edition of the event proved a memorable one for the home nation, with Canada celebrating success on familiar soil as Cameron produced a composed and clinical display to seal a 7-3 victory in the final.

At 56, the experienced Canadian showed his class at a crucial stage of the match. Trailing 3-2 after a strong start from Sevada, Cameron shifted momentum dramatically by reeling off five consecutive legs to close out the contest in style. The victory not only earned him the title but also confirmed qualification for June’s bet365 US Darts Masters, along with a coveted place at the 2026/27 Paddy Power World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace.

Sevada made the brighter start to the showpiece, landing back-to-back 14-dart legs to establish a narrow 3-2 advantage. However, Cameron responded emphatically, producing a brilliant 12-dart leg to level the match and wrestle back control.

That proved to be the turning point. Cameron followed it up with a precise 110 checkout to edge ahead for the first time at 4-3, before delivering one of the defining moments of the match—a stunning 164 finish as part of another 12-darter—to move two legs clear.

With the momentum firmly in his favour, Cameron showed no signs of slowing down. A tidy 16-dart break of throw extended his lead further, and he wrapped up the title with a comfortable hold to complete a dominant five-leg burst and seal a deserved 7-3 triumph.

Cameron’s path to the title was equally impressive. He began his campaign with a commanding whitewash victory over Larry Butler, a former World Matchplay champion, setting the tone for the rest of his weekend.

On Finals Day, he continued his charge with victories over fellow Canadians Jeff Smith and Kiley Edmunds. Against Smith—last year’s runner-up—Cameron found another gear late on, winning four of the final five legs to secure a 5-3 success. He then produced a convincing performance in the semi-finals, easing past Edmunds 6-2 to book his place in the decider.

Sevada, despite falling short in the final, enjoyed an impressive run of his own. The American opened his campaign by defeating three-time world champion John Part, before maintaining his momentum with solid displays against Jim Long and Darryl Christie, averaging in the low 90s in both victories.

Elsewhere, defending champion Leonard Gates suffered a surprise early exit, losing to Jacob Taylor on the opening night. There was another notable upset as Stowe Buntz, a former Grand Slam of Darts quarter-finalist, also bowed out earlier than expected.

With the Cross-Border Challenge now concluded, attention turns to the next stage of the CDC calendar. The 2026 Championship Darts Circuit season continues in Niagara Falls next month, where Events 1 and 2 will take place alongside an open qualifier for the bet365 US Darts Masters on May 8-9.
