Nathan Aspinall racks up second BetMGM Premier League Nightly win in Aberdeen
Nathan Aspinall racked up three commanding victories on his way to picking up his second Premier League Nightly win on Week 15 in Aberdeen.
The Stockport-born star defeated Michael van Gerwen, Stephen Bunting and Chris Dobey to propel his chances of securing a play-off place and feature at the O2 Arena on May 29th.
It was a truly historic night of darting action, full of high-level entertainment. Despite not playing anywhere near his best, Aspinall showed grit and determination to pick up five much-needed points to bolster his final four chances.
A crucial first win of the night over rival Van Gerwen spurred him on to complete back-to-back 6-1 wins over Bunting and stablemate Dobey.
With Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price all through to the final four, the Asp needs to win one match in Week 16 to secure his place in the final four.
Elsewhere in the quarter-final matches, Price produced a moment of magic by hitting a perfect leg in his quarter-final matchup with Bunting, but he later lost the match with an average of just 91. Even if he did win, it would prove to be irrelevant as the Welshman will feature at the O2.
Dobey comfortably dispatched Rob Cross with a 6-2 victory, meaning the former world champion has one final chance to secure a Nightly win for next Thursday’s action in Sheffield. Both Voltage and Van Gerwen remain as the two participants yet to win in this year’s Premier League.
Arguably the game of the night followed for the neutral, as once again Littler and Humphries put on a show showcasing their remarkable arrow-throwing ability. Littler recovered from 3-1 down to reel off five consecutive legs, with both players averaging 116 and 110, respectively, before he confirmed his place as the table-top winner.
Aspinall comfortably dispatched Bunting 6-1 to progress, while Dobey scraped through his despite holding a 5-2 advantage over teenage sensation Littler. The Warrington star upped the ante to force a last-leg decider, but four missed match darts allowed Dobey to secure his place in his third final.

Aspinall and Van Gerwen collide once again in the quarter-finals on Night 16, with the former needing just a win to make the cut. Van Gerwen, meanwhile, must not only beat Aspinall but also go all the way to claim a first Nightly win to reclaim fourth spot.
However, who finishes sixth through to eighth-place remains to be seen, as Dobey, Cross, and Bunting will all be aiming to secure the highest prize winnings by the end of the evening.
