John Part accepts the final World Seniors Matchplay invite

John Part will complete the lineup for the upcoming World Seniors Matchplay. The Seniors head to the Barbican in York in October.

Having won three World titles in three separate venues, including the BDO World Championship at Lakeside in 1994, Part is among the top dart throwers the world has seen.

In one of the greatest games in history, “Darth Maple” defeated Phil Taylor 7–6 at the Circus Tavern in Purfleet to win the 2003 PDC World Championship.

In 2008, the Canadian won 7-2 at Alexandra Palace against Kirk Shepherd to clinch a hat-trick of World Championship victories. In addition, he won the 2006 Las Vegas Desert Classic and defeated Mark Webster in a 2011 World Matchplay match by pinning a nine-darter.

“I’m really delighted and honoured to have received an invite to the Matchplay, and it’s one which I didn’t hesitate to accept”, said Part.

“It’s nice to catch up with old friends, and to compete for the most prestigious prizes in Seniors darts. I’ll give it everything to show the fans that I still have the passion and ability in the sport, and I’ll be coming to win!”

WSDT Chief Executive Jason Francis said;

“We are really pleased to confirm John’s participation in the Matchplay”.

“John obviously has a hectic schedule with travelling from Canada, but luckily, his schedule ties in with ours, and I’m sure he will be well- received as always in York. He is the best player to play the sport from outside of mainland Europe, and one of the best of all-time, so to have him taking part in the Matchplay is a real coup for us”.

The full lineup for the Seniors World Matchplay is Phil Taylor, Leonard Gates, Glen Durrant, Robert Thornton, Trina Gulliver, Martin Adams, Lisa Ashton, Kevin Painter, John Henderson, Chris Mason, Neil Duff, Paul Hogan, Matt Clark, James Richardson and David Cameron are the other participants at the World Seniors Matchplay.
