Luke Littler stormed to the top of the BetMGM Premier League table with a sensational third nightly victory in the space of four weeks in Berlin on Thursday.
The world number one followed up his triumphs in Cardiff and Dublin with another commanding display at the Uber Arena, producing a hat-trick of high-quality performances to leapfrog Jonny Clayton at the summit.
Littler defeated Stephen Bunting, Gerwyn Price and Michael van Gerwen to clinch Night Eight honours, sealing victory with a pair of stunning 170 checkouts in a 6-4 success against Van Gerwen in the final.
The 19-year-old opened his campaign with a 6-3 victory over Bunting in a contest packed with quality. Despite the Liverpudlian averaging a remarkable 107.47, Littler’s relentless scoring and clinical finishing proved decisive, as he averaged north of 105 to progress to the semi-finals.
There, he produced arguably the performance of the night to overcome Price. Trailing 4-3, Littler shifted through the gears in emphatic fashion, reeling off three consecutive legs while averaging a superb 108.58 to book his place in the showpiece.
Awaiting him in the final was Van Gerwen, who was appearing in his third nightly final of the 2026 campaign. However, Littler made a blistering start, racing into a 3-0 lead and piling the pressure on the Dutchman with a clinical 126 checkout on the bull.
Van Gerwen responded in trademark fashion, producing a three-leg burst of his own to restore parity at 3-3 and set up a thrilling conclusion. Yet Littler delivered when it mattered most, producing a moment of brilliance with a spectacular 170 finish to edge 5-3 ahead.
Although Van Gerwen immediately broke back to keep his hopes alive, Littler was not to be denied. The teenager sealed the victory in style with another “Big Fish” checkout, underlining his dominance on a memorable night in the German capital.
“I think this is definitely the best I’ve played over a night,” admitted Littler, who averaged 106.36 in the final and landed three ton-plus finishes.
“I knew if I won the night I would go top, but you’ve just got to take it game by game.
“Obviously I won in Cardiff and Dublin, but this tops it. I played very well tonight.
“Tonight has gone really well. I’m glad to have the weekend off, and then we’ll be back for Manchester.”
Despite defeat in the final, Van Gerwen’s run to the showpiece represented a timely return to form. The seven-time Premier League champion recorded consecutive 6-3 victories over Luke Humphries and Josh Rock, capitalising on missed opportunities from both opponents to climb back into the Play-Off places.
Elsewhere, Rock was one of the standout performers earlier in the evening, claiming his maiden Premier League victory of the season with an impressive 6-3 win over Clayton. The Northern Irishman ended a run of seven straight defeats to get off the mark in this year’s roadshow.
In the night’s other quarter-final, Price produced a solid display to dispatch Gian van Veen 6-1. The European Champion was making his return to action after undergoing treatment for kidney stones, but was unable to replicate his earlier-season consistency against an in-form Price.
Attention now turns to Night Nine in Manchester on April 2, where Littler will look to extend his advantage at the top of the table. The reigning World Champion faces Van Veen in a repeat of January’s World Championship final, while Van Gerwen meets Bunting in the evening’s opener.
Elsewhere, Price and Humphries renew their rivalry in another high-profile clash, while Clayton takes on Rock for the second consecutive week.
Littler now holds a two-point lead over Clayton at the summit, with Price and Van Gerwen occupying third and fourth respectively. Humphries sits just outside the Play-Off places in fifth, with Van Veen, Bunting and Rock still within striking distance.
With five points awarded to the nightly winner, three to the runner-up and two to each semi-finalist, the race to Finals Night at The O2 Arena on May 28 is intensifying — and Littler’s Berlin masterclass may yet prove a defining moment in the 2026 campaign.
