2023 World Seniors Matchplay Draw, Schedule and Results
The 2023 World Seniors Matchplay heads to York this weekend, and you can keep up with the latest results and schedule of play right here.
The second World Seniors Matchplay will be held on 2nd-3rd of September at the Barbican in York, with 16 players contending for triumph.
Robert Thornton is the defending champion, having defeated Phil Taylor 12-10 in last year’s final in Hull.
Taylor, a 16-time World Champion, is back in the hunt for his first Seniors crown, along with three-time World Champion John Part who clash in round one.
Leonard Gates will be trying to make it three Seniors titles on the spin, He has won Champion of Champions and the Masters in 2023 already.
The event also features reigning World Seniors champion Robert Thornton, WDF World Champion Neil Duff, ten-time Women’s World Champion Trina Gulliver, and reigning World Seniors Champion of Champions and Masters champion Leonard Gates.
John Henderson and Jim McEwan will make their debuts in televised World DSeniors action, and Paul Hogan and Colin McGarry will also compete in York after impressive showings in the qualifying and Open Series.
In addition to former Players Champion Kevin Painter and 2022 World Seniors Masters champion David Cameron, Richie Howson, who has lost all three of this year’s World Seniors circuit televised finals will be hoping that this is the time.
Martin Adams, a three-time BDO World Champion, is replaced by Deta Hedman after Wolfie withdrew because of personal reasons.
All games through the Quarterfinals must be played over the best of 15 legs, while the semifinals and championship game must be played over the best of 17. But all games must be won by two clear legs.
