Chris Mason opens up about playing competitive darts again “It’s such a horrible game, we all love it but wow it hurts you.”

Chris Mason moved into the last eight at the Seniors World Championships at the iconic Circus Tavern. Mason has been open in the past about the dark places that the sport drove him to in the past, so putting himself back into the lion’s den once again is a test for the former world semi-finalist.

Mason will face Lisa Ashton in the quarter-finals this afternoon which he admits is a terrifying prospect

“Realistically, I’m in a world of trouble tomorrow,”  Mase admitted

“I’m dreading playing Lisa tomorrow because she’s playing better than me. It’s like any other player, doesn’t matter if she’s, female, male or anything else she’s a fabulous dart player full stop”

Mase the Ace goes on to express his emotions about playing on a big stage again as he enters the final day of action at hen World Seniors World Championships.

“Once you’ve been competitive, you never lose that edge of just wanting to win and sometimes winning isn’t enough,” he explains. “You want to do yourself justice. You want to entertain the crowd. You want to entertain the viewers at home and you want to promote this event as much as you can because you want it to do well and that comes with its pressures. It’s tough, really tough.”

“ That’s what this game goes to you. It dangles a carrot then takes it all away in a heartbeat. It’s such a horrible game, we all love it but wow it hurts you.”
