Michael van Gerwen says that Peter Wright does not need to play mind games, following a dramatic day ten of the World Darts Championship.

MvG whitewashed Ricky Evans 4-0, as World Champion Wright was sensationally knocked out 4-3 by Gabriel Clemens.

The world number one will now face Joe Cullen in the last 16.

“Every interview he does, he talks nonsense”

In his winner’s press conference, Michael Van Gerwen shared his opinion on the Peter Wright mind games.

“Of course it back fired on him. We know what Peter Wright is like, every interview he does he talks nonsense.

“He’s a phenomenal player and probably doesn’t need that”

“If he talks so much crap, things like that will happen to you.”

The world number one also gave his assessment on a quality performance against Rapid Ricky Evans.

“I did the right things at the right moment. The second set, the 171 and after the 150 was a killer for him”

“I’m in good form and I think there is more damage to do in this tournament”

Van Gerwen will now play Joe Cullen in round four, following The Rockstar’s last leg win against Johnny Clayton.
