PDC Premier League night four preview – Pointless Bunting looking to get off the mark in Exeter

The 2025 PDC Premier League campaign continues in Exeter on Thursday, as Gerwyn Price begins his quest for back-to-back nightly victories against league leader Luke Humphries.

Price defeated Humphries on his way to win in Dublin last week, beating incumbent champion Luke Littler and a resurgent Nathan Aspinall.

The Welshman will now face world number one Humphries for the third week in a row on Thursday, February 27, as Night Four of the darting roadshow takes place at Westpoint Exeter.

Humphries staged an incredible comeback to defeat Price in the Night Two semi-finals, but Price returned the favour on Night Three, converting three ton-plus checkouts to seal a 6-3 victory.

Price, who finished first in the league phase in 2023, had a difficult season a year before, but after a solid start to the year, he is beginning to translate performances into victories.

“I felt like I was playing pretty well last year, but I wasn’t getting the results,” said the 2020/21 World Champion, who was also a winner on the PDC ProTour earlier this month.

“I was missing a couple of chances on the doubles and getting punished for it.

“That doesn’t seem to be happening this year. I’m taking my chances, I’m playing really well and the results are coming.

“I was just happy to get a win in Dublin. It is five vital points for me early on in the Premier League, and it gives me a good boost leading into Exeter this week.”

The latest clash between Price and Humphries will lead Thursday’s action, when the league’s current top two face off in the South West.

Littler, who won on Night Two, will also look to win again when he faces former Masters champion Stephen Bunting, who has yet to win in this year’s competition.

Bunting lost his third quarter-final in a row in Dublin last Thursday, despite posting a century-plus average in a high-quality match against Humphries.

Littler, however, is fourth in the embryonic standings after Price held off his late fightback at the 3Arena to win his sixth consecutive fight against the youthful phenom.

The winner of Littler vs. Bunting will face either Chris Dobey or Aspinall in the evening’s penultimate quarter-final.

Aspinall won the nightly prize in Exeter last season, and he began his 2025 campaign in Dublin last Thursday, defeating Rob Cross and Michael van Gerwen to reach the Night Three final.

Night One’s Runner-Up Dobey is tied with Aspinall on three points after losing narrowly to Humphries and Van Gerwen in the quarter-finals.

Aspinall has won nine of the pair’s ten meetings dating back to March 2015, but Bedlington’s Dobey believes he can break that streak on Thursday.

“I need to win this one for bragging rights,” quipped former Masters champion Dobey.

“Nathan has been telling everybody about his record against me over the last few weeks, so that makes me even more hungry to turn the tables!

“It’s a massive game. Me and Nathan are already on the same points, so we’ll both be up for it and hopefully it will be a cracker.

“I feel like my game is there. It’s just a matter of when it’s going to happen on the big stage, and fingers crossed it happens tomorrow night!”

In the evening’s curtain-raiser, former World Champions Van Gerwen and Cross will face off.

Van Gerwen has made three semi-final appearances to start his career, while Cross has two quarter-final exits in Glasgow and Dublin after reaching the Night One semi-finals.

Cross has won five of his past six big-stage matches with the Dutch superstar, but Van Gerwen has averaged 105, 109, and 99 in his quarter-final victory this season.
