Van Gerwen is very critical of his own performance despite Dublin win

Michael van Gerwen had to come from 5-2 down in an absolute smash and grab to defeat Gerwyn Price in the final of Night Four of Premier League Darts in Dublin as the Dutchman survived seven match darts

Van Gerwen admitted afterwards that it wasn’t his best performance, but that winning breeds confidence.

“If you’re gonna look honest towards the evening, it wasn’t really my night but more importantly I won it and that gives me a lot of confidence. For me, there’s a lot more to go,”

“Gezzy did everything in his power, anything in his book to make it hard for me as possible but more importantly I won it and it’s nice for me. He was talking a little bit next to me but if it’s a drama final like that, anything is possible. That’s the way our finals go and me and Gezzy we get on quite well together. He’s a phenomenal dart player and he starts to play a little bit better as well and that’s good for darts I think.”

“It is important but it’s a busy schedule of course I’m going to skip a few European Tours but we’re gonna see how that goes later on in the season. In the Premier League, things get tough it’s busy but it’s my job simple as that.”.

“I don’t have to send out messages, they know what I’m capable of and with me playing this crap tonight and winning, it’s nice.”
