Lisa Ashton won back to back Women’s Series Events titles and secures her 16th and 17th title in the process.

The Lancashire Rose made light work in both finals winning both 5-1. In Event 11 she proved far too strong for Aileen de Graaf getting over the line with an 83 average. In Event 12 despite averaging less than Beau Greaves who recorded a 90 average Ashton got over the line once again winning 5-1.

A Rosy route to the final

Lisa Ashton started the run to her first Women’s Series win of the year with a first round defeat of Northern Irish darter Denise Cassidy. The second round saw her having to come through the first of two last leg deciders defeating Chris Savvery of Wales.

The last 32 and last 16 saw Lisa defeat Angela Kirkwood and Finnish darts player Kirsi Viinikainen both of which ended in 4-2 wins. Her biggest test of the day so far would come in the quarter final as she faced top seed going to the Women’s Matchplay Beau Greaves. And similar to the final of Event 12 – despite Beau Greaves averaging over 90 Ashton prevailed with a 5-3 win.

Aileen de Graaf couldn’t keep up with Ashton in Event 11 final

It wouldn’t get any easier in the semi final as she came up against Modus Super Series Women’s week winner Rhian O’Sullivan. Similar to her compatriot O’Sullivan forced a last leg decider only for Ashton to get over the line and make it to the final.

Everything’s coming up Roses

Things got a little bit easier for Ashton in Event 12 as she only had to face one last lag deciders. In the last 64 she got past the Icelandic darter Ingibjorg Magnusdottir by 4-2 despite not being at her best. She then picked her game up in the last 32 when she proved too strong for Lorraine Hyde winning 4-1.

In the last 16 she face her only last leg decider as she overcome Portuguese darter Neuza Araujo despite the Lancashire Rose averaging 3 points less than her opponent. As the matches went up to best of 9 – so did Ashton’s margin of victory. In the quarter final she powered her way past Laura Turner winning 5-0 before defeating Fallon Sherrock 5-2 in the semi final with a 76 average. Her best performance of the event came in the final where she averaged over 89.

Beau Greaves will return to the Women’s Matchplay as number 1 seed.
