Smith reigns in Jersey City winning the inaugural CDC Cross Border Challenge 

On Saturday night, Jeff Smith triumphed in the inaugural CDC Cross-Border Challenge. The former Lakeside finalist showed his class and fighting spirit across the two days of play.

Smith is getting used to a new setup after recently moving manufacturers but showed that he seems to have found the balance as on the final day “The Silencer” did not drop a leg.

Eight Canadian and eight American dart players squared off in the quarter-final where Smith defeated former World Matchplay champion Larry Butler 4-2.

That was the closest that any player got to Smith all weekend, as he would not drop a leg for the rest of the Cross Border Challenge. 

He successively tied Jim Long (6-0), Steve Warnock (5-0), and Jules van Dongen (5-0) on the final day of the competition in Jersey City.

Also on the line over the weekend was the Nations Cup, as players picked up one point per win for the country. It was Canada who stole the show, smashing the USA 8-2 in the best of 15.
