Day six of the 2025 Paddy Power World Darts Championship saw

It’s another double helping of darts on day seven, which features the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year as the main attraction in the night session.

There’s also a five time World Champion in action, plus the end of round one in the afternoon.

Here’s what to look forward to on day seven at the 2025 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.

Littler and Barney start campaigns in night session

Fresh off his Young Sports Personality win, as well as finishing second in the main vote, the boy who captured the darting world last Christmas is back at Alexandra Palace.

2024 Paddy Power World Darts Championship runner up Luke Littler begins his quest to go one better in 2025, taking on Ryan Meikle. Meikle beat Fallon Sherrock 3-2 on Tuesday to qualify for this game.

It has been a remarkable year for Littler, who’s won 10 titles, including the Premier League and Grand Slam. The Barber’s win in round one though has essentially saved his Tour Card. This will be their first ever senior meeting, so can Meikle cause a monumental upset? Or will The Nuke move into round three for a second straight year?

While Littler is bidding for a first World Darts Championship crown, his darting idol and five time champion, Raymond van Barneveld, is action in the match before. He will take on Nick Kenny, who beat America’s Stowe Buntz 3-0, ending the match with a 170 Big Fish checkout.

Barney won four of his World crowns in the BDO, before winning arguably the greatest game ever played in 2007 against Phil Taylor to take his first and so far only PDC World title. This will be the first time that the two have played, so can Kenny back up his win by taking the scalp of the five time champion? Or will the Barney Army help their man into round three for the third straight year?

Heta v Scutt caps off evening, Noppert and Dobey begin campaigns

Arguably, the game of the day is the final match of day seven at the Paddy Power World Darts Championship, as Damon Heta takes on Connor Scutt. Heta comes into this event as the ninth seed, while Scutt saw off Ben Robb in round one.

The Heat has had a good year, winning two floor events, and making the semi finals of the UK Open. However, in the main, his TV record hasn’t been great, only going past the first round in a ranked TV tournament once since then. Scutt of course has secured his place in the top 64 and a one year Tour Card, despite not being a Tour Card holder this year. He also made the last eight of the Players Championship Finals a month ago.

It’s 1-1 between the pair in their previous two meetings, so who will win their third meeting and move into the last 32?

The first game of the night session sees Danny Noppert take on Ryan Joyce. Former UK Open champion Noppy is the 13th seed, while Joyce beat Darius Labanuskas in round one.

Noppert has won a Pro Tour title this year, but it’s Joyce who should head into their game with more confidence. he leads their overall head to head record 4-1, but in two meetings in 2024, it is 1-1. Who will win their first ever set play meeting?

Before all this though, the afternoon session is rounded off by Chris Dobey takes on Alexander Merkx. Dobey comes into this as the 15th seed, while Merkx whitewashed Stephen Burton yesterday in round one.

Dobey, the 2023 Masters champion, has been tipped by many to produce a good run at Alexandra Palace. He’s won three Pro Tour events this season, as well as reaching two more finals. He’s reached the quarter finals here for the last two years, so can he go further this time? Or will the Dutchman Merkx pull off arguably the biggest win of his career?

Dolan involved in the day session, Round One ends

The other seed in action on day two is Brendan Dolan, as he plays Lok Yin Lee. Dolan is the 30th seed for this event, while Hong Kong’s Lee defeated Chris Landman in round one.

This is the 17th consecutive time that The History Maker will play at the World Darts Championship, reaching the last eight twice including 12 months ago, when he lost to Littler. He’s also won a floor event this season, so can he reach the third round for the third year in succession? Or will Hong Kong’s Lee shock the Northern Irishman?

Before the seeds come on though, there are two ties to signal the end of the opening round of the World Darts Championship.

First, Karel Sedlacek takes on Rhys Griffin. Sedlacek qualified 19th on the Pro Tour list of qualifiers, while Griffin came through the Tour Card Holder qualifier.

Sedlacek comes into this game knowing that a win will guarantee him his Tour Card for another year, while Griffin will be looking to end a reasonably solid first year on the tour. Sedlacek has won both of their previous meetings so far, so will that record continue, or will Griffin take victory in their first ever set play contest? The winner plays Josh Rock on Monday night.

The last round one game sees Richard Veenstra take on Alexis Toylo. Veenstra returns to Ally Pally for the second straight year, while Toylo, who debuted for the Philippines at this year’s World Cup of Darts, makes his debut at the Worlds.

This will be the first time that the two have met, so will Veenstra’s experience at Alexandra Palace count? Or will Toylo, who won five of the first 11 events on the Asia Tour, become another Asian player to win at the Worlds this year? Krzysztof Ratajski awaits the winner on Monday night.
