James Wade claims two of this years Premier League players were picked because of “something bigger than darts”

James Wade stated at the UK Open that he wants to be back in the Premier League within 12 months.

Wade, 41, advanced to a quarterfinal matchup with Luke Humphries at Butlin’s Minehead on Saturday after defeating Rob Owen and Cameron Menzies.

Despite his successes, he was not in the greatest of moods as he revealed that he didn’t beleive that all 8 players in this lineup were picked for darting reasons

Wade also expressed his displeasure with the Premier League Darts selections, claiming that two players in particular were involved in “something bigger than darts” after they were given their spot.

Luke Littler, the current champion, Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross, Gerwyn Price, Nathan Aspinall, Chris Dobey, and Stephen Bunting make up the lineup.

“I want to be back in the Premier League and think I will be back in the Premier League in the next 12 months but have to do something drastic to earn and justify that. I’m not going to get what some players get via a dust off and an invitation. I’ve got to stamp my rights down.

“I screwed up last year. I think the Premier League was really open for a lot of players. Two players that got in the Premier League because they’re part of something bigger than darts. I think if I’d had a good World Championship which I haven’t had for three years, I’d have had a good chance at getting it.”
