Gerwyn Price is pleased with the changes to the World Cup of Darts “I don’t understand why there was singles in there.”

Back in 2020 Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton became the first Welsh team to win the World Cup of Darts. Since the Welsh number one has spoken out about the need to make the World Cup pairs only.

Two weeks ago the PDC made the changes that both fans and players have been calling for and changed the format to pairs only.

It’s a pairs tournament, I don’t understand why there was singles in there. If you’re going to have a doubles tournament just play it all the way through. I think the PDC realise that’s what people wanted and that’s the way it should be, it’s going to be interesting to see how the teams play. It’ll be better.”

“Whether I was in the qualifiers or not, I was missing the Austrian one anyway. Had a couple of exhibitions up in Scotland, I didn’t want to hang around for just one qualifier. I didn’t realise you had to win two games, when the Premier League is on, it’s tough.”

Price changing his diet

Gerwyn Price has been performing better and has taken steps away from the oche to get himself back in shape, including a gluten-free diet, which he said is one of several he is trying to figure out where the swelling is coming from.

“I’ve done gluten free now for four or five weeks, I certainly think it helps with the mental health and I’ve done a lot of research on it and thought it was part and parcel of why my hands and feet swell a lot. I’m not sure if that’s the reason but at least I’ll try and cut down. I’m going to try lactose free now, I’m just trying to find out the root cause of why my hands and feet swell,”

“Unbelievable how my mood has changed for the better”
