Gian van Veen stole the spotlight on the Minehead stage as he secured the PDC World Youth Championship title for the second year in a row.

The Dutchman sealed a 6–3 win over three-time women’s world champion Beau Greaves, becoming only the second player after Dimitri Van den Bergh to retain the most coveted title in youth darts.

Van Veen produced an excellent getaway to establish a 3–1 lead after the first four legs, and at one point was averaging in 110 territory.

The pressure piled on even further as the recent European Champion stretched his lead to 4–1, leaving Greaves needing to break throw twice to keep her hopes alive.

Greaves showed her class to win back-to-back legs and reduce the deficit to 4–3, but ultimately couldn’t level at 4–4 after missing five crucial darts at double.

From then on, it was one-way traffic as her opponent reeled off the final two legs to close out the match and collect the £12,000 prize pot.

Van Veen’s performance yielded a steady final average of 96.55, but it was his 60% checkout rate, hitting 6/10 doubles, that underlined his superiority.
