Luke Littler wins back to back in 2024 Premier League
Luke Littler wins back-to back Premier League Nights after winning games against Michael van Gerwen, Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price on Week 10 in Manchester.
His success last week in Belfast put him in strong contention for the play-offs, however his win tonight sees him overtake Luke Humphries which puts him top of the league for the first time. A total of 7 180’s thrown throughout the night guided him through and steady averages of 93, 97 and 100 in the final showed he can win against anyone whilst not playing his A game.
Peter Wright put in the best average of the night in his game with Gerwyn Price, averaging 109.52 but it was not enough to defeat Gerwyn Price who averaged 107.88 himself. The game itself saw a mixture of high scoring and high percentage outshots on the doubles from both.
Price took a lot of confidence from this performance into his semi-final match with Michael Smith, as he achieved perfection during the match making it his seventh on TV and yet another in the Premier League. It was a successful night for the Welshman who will now be looking to climb into the play-off positions in the closing weeks.
Michael van Gerwen’s struggle to find consistency continued with another defeat to teenage sensation Luke Littler in the quarter-finals, where he played far from his best as he averaged just below 92. The Dutchman came from 3-0 down to level up the match, before Littler threw three legs in a row to win.
Rob Cross and Nathan Aspinall played each other once again in the quarter-finals for the third time in four weeks. With Aspinall winning the first two meetings, winning both in last leg deciders, Cross needed a win to revitalise his play-off chances. Aspinall came out on top once again and sealed a 6-3 victory.
Michael Smith got his revenge on Luke Humphries in their quarter-final battle, having come up just short on two occasions in Week 6 and Week 8 when they both met in the final. Despite being under the weather, he posted in a ton average but was no match for Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals as fatigue played a factor
