Peter Wright is excited by Gary Anderson’s return to playing in the World Cup

Anderson has not played in the World Cup since 2019 when he and Wright won the tournament. But now the Flying Scotsman is ready to return.

Both Wright and Anderson missed the World Cup in 2020 due to not wanting to travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw John Henderson and Robert Thornton represent Scotland. Wright returned to win the World Cup for a second time in 2021 when he played with Henderson.

When Wright heard Anderson’s desire to rejoin the World Cup of Darts team and play alongside him in 2023 during an interview on our Live Lounge, his face lit up. Anderson was practising with Ryan Searle at the time.

“We have an unbeaten record together we will go in as favourites,”

“People have been missing him for the last few years, what he can do on a dart board is frightening. Just look at his 111 average and he lost. He shouldn’t have said he’s been practicing, he should’ve just walked into the tournament and said I haven’t been practicing, got up there and surprised everybody.”

“He played brilliant did he and there’s only better to come. I’ve got a brilliant partner back in the World Cup.”
