Gerwyn Price won his first weekly Premier League Darts event since Liverpool last year as he claimed victory in the first ever night in Belgium.

The Iceman fought through his first two games, but then outclassed last week’s winner Michael van Gerwen in the final, as he won 6-3 to claim the title in Antwerp.

After reaching the semi finals of the Winmau World Masters, and the final on the Pro Tour on Tuesday, Price now finally has a trophy to show for his excellent start to the season. He’s also the first man to defeat the seven time Premier League champion in this year’s event.

Price beats past van Gerwen for Belgium win

Price had defeated van Gerwen 6-0 on the Pro Tour earlier this week, averaging 117 in the process. While he did not reproduce that high of an average, he still hit a solid 104.44.

The Iceman broke in the opening leg and held to go 2-0 up, before van Gerwen got his first leg on the board with a stunning 167 checkout. Price then missed two darts for a 3-1 lead, allowing MvG to ping in a massive 160 outshot to level the game.

It did not put the 2021 World Champion off his stride, as he found a 12 dart break to go in front once more, and reestablished a two leg lead with a 14 dart hold. Both missed darts for the seventh leg, but again Price took the leg, hitting double six to go within one.

He then missed two darts to win the match in leg eight, allowing van Gerwen to extend the contest, but it only delayed the inevitable. 12 darts later, The Iceman found tops to complete the win.

Price had to come through two last leg deciders to reach the inaugural Premier League Darts final in Belgium. He first survived match darts against last week’s runner up Gian van Veen in his quarter final contest, before extending his winning record over fellow Welshman Jonny Clayton to 10 straight games, breaking in the last leg of the match.

Although he lost in the final, van Gerwen is still top of the league in the early stages thanks to two wins in Antwerp. He comfortably defeated Josh Rock 6-2 in his quarter final, before beating Luke Littler in his last four contest 6-4, in a match that saw seven breaks of throw.

What else happened?

Littler picked up his first points of the 2026 Premier League Darts, despite missing out on the final.

The World Champion and 2024 winner of this event, beat last year’s winner Luke Humphries 6-5 in the first quarter final. Cool Hand went 4-1 up in the early stages, before a spirited comeback from Littler saw him win five of the last six legs to take victory, with both players hitting seven maximums in the contest.

Clayton also picked up another quarter final win to move himself onto four points after week two.

The 2021 winner was 4-0 down early on to Stephen Bunting in the third quarter final, but roared back to win six legs on the spin, taking advantage of two missed darts at double in legs seven and nine from The Bullet to win 6-4.

The 2026 Premier League Darts continues next week in Glasgow, as the roadshow goes to Scotland for the first time this year.
