Luke Littler won his first night of the 2026 Premier League Darts, denying the Welsh crowd a home winner.

The World Champion hit a stunning 106.44 average to defeat Jonny Clayton 6-4 in the final, taking victory in Cardiff for a second straight year.

It means the world number one is now into the top four, after four stuttering weeks to start his campaign. Clayton though does still lead the overall league table, extending his lead at the top in the process.

Littler breaks Welsh hearts in quality final

There were people that were concerned after the start The Nuke had to the season, as he came into the night in seventh place. Needless to say, they did not need to be worried.

The Nuke broke in the opening leg of the final, but the Ferret broke straight back as both missed darts for the second. Clayton then hit an 86 outshot to take the lead for the first time, but then Littler hit his second 170 Big Fish outshot of the night to equalise at 2-2.

Two holds followed to keep the game level, as the pair continued to produce outstanding darts. In the seventh leg, Littler missed double 15 for what would have been his second nine darter in a Cardiff final in as many years. This allowed Clayton to ping a 41 outshot for an 11 dart hold, keeping him in the lead.

The Nuke then held, before Clayton missed two darts for the ninth leg, and Littler punished, hitting double 10 to break and go within one. 18 darts later, he pinged tops, getting over the line in an outstanding game, where Clayton averaged over a ton.

Both players though helped their push for the Premier League darts playoffs by making the final in the Welsh capital. Clayton fought off Gian van Veen in the second quarter final, hitting four 180s and a 105 checkout as he won 6-4.

It was the same scoreline for The Ferret against Luke Humphries in the semi final. Clayton went 5-2 up, but missed match darts in each of the next two legs, as Cool Hand fought back. The former Premier League champion prevailed though, hitting tops to make the showpiece match.

Littler saw off Josh Rock 6-4 in the final last eight tie. Despite Rocky averaging 103.72 and hitting three 180s, his doubling let him down, hitting just 4/19 on the outer ring, allowing The Nuke to pick up his second match win of the competition.

The World Champion then saw off Gerwyn Price in the semi final, hitting a stunning 111.05 average and 6/9 on the outer ring, ending the match with his first Big Fish 170 checkout of the evening.

What else happened?

Despite the semi final loss to Clayton, Humphries got an important two points to keep in the hunt for the Premier League playoffs.

Cool Hand defeated Michael van Gerwen 6-1 in the first quarter final, hitting 6/11 on the checkouts in a game that lacked in quality.

Price remains in the top four despite losing in the semi final, as he picked up two points by beating Stephen Bunting 6-5.

Bunting, who won in Belfast last week, hit the most 180s and the highest average in the match, missed a match dart in the deciding leg, as Price took out 57 to the delight of the Welsh crowd to take victory.
