Ryan Searle wins sixth PDC Title after glory at Players Championship 4

In Tuesday’s Players Championship 4 final in Rosmalen, Ryan Searle defeated Cameron Menzies 8-3 to win his sixth ProTour triumph.

With a number of outstanding performances at the Autotron, Searle, who has won a PDC ranking title each of the previous five years, continued his winning streak.

The 37-year-old easily defeated Florian Hempel in the first round, averaging just under 105. He then easily defeated Mensur Suljovic in the second round, thrashing Owen Bates in the third round with an average of 109.

After battling his way to victories against Mickey Mansell and William O’Connor, Searle defeated Stefan Bellmont 7–6 in the semifinals with a brilliant 120 checkout.

In Tuesday’s match against Menzies, the man known as “Heavy Metal” delivered more heavy artillery, winning with a 100.7 average after converting eight of his 12 double tries.

Menzies started things off with a spectacular 145 outshot, which led to four straight holds. Searle then recorded legs of 13 and 12 darts to put himself ahead 4–2.

Searle was on the verge of victory after back-to-back holds, and he secured it with his reliable tops in leg 11 after a pivotal 110 kill and a spectacular tops-tops 100 finish.

“I’ve been playing really well in practice, so to prove it this week is fantastic,” admitted Searle, who becomes the first non-Premier League player to win a ranking title this year.

“To win six PDC titles is amazing, especially when you look at the list of brilliant players that never won a PDC title.

“Winning a title six years running is a great achievement for me, and if I can win another one this year, that will be another boundary crossed.”

Searle has been one of the sport’s most consistent performers for much of the last decade, but is determined to reach new heights in 2025 as he plots a return to the world’s top 16.

“This year I want to try and push forward and do more than what I’ve done in the past,” continued the former Players Championship Finals runner-up.

“Throughout my career I’ve basically just done the bare minimum to get by, and luckily enough I’m half decent at darts!

“I had a bit of a gut-wrenching loss to Ryan Joyce at the World Championship, because I feel like I played really well.

“As soon as I got back home I’ve been on the practice board. I’m looking to put more effort in this year, so we will see where that takes me.”

The Grand Slam of Darts quarterfinalist made an impression in the Netherlands to go to his third Players Championship final, and Menzies had a breakout year on the PDC ProTour in 2024.

The Scot overcame a 5-2 deficit to defeat Jose de Sousa in a thrilling first-round match, then he defeated Christian Kist by averaging three digits before defeating Wesley Plaisier in a second deciding-leg match.

After defeating Stephen Bunting and James Wade 6-3 in quick succession, Menzies advanced to the round of four, where he defeated Dom Taylor 7-4.

In order to get to the semi-finals, Taylor achieved five ton-plus averages; his weakest performance of the day was a 99.31 average in his victory over Ryan Meikle in the third round.

In his quarterfinal triumph over Gabriel Clemens, the 26-year-old defeated Karel Sedlacek and Damon Heta before thrashing Nick Kenny and averaging 106.

Bellmont, who became the first Swiss representative to advance to a PDC ranking semi-final with impressive victories over Gerwyn Price and Josh Rock, joined Taylor in the final four.

In addition to launching a late comeback to defeat Ryan Joyce in the round of 16, the World Cup star had begun his campaign with a smashing 6-2 victory over European Champion Ritchie Edhouse.

After losing in the first round of the year’s first three events, Clemens had a pleasant comeback in Rosmalen, where he joined Rock and Wade to make it to the quarterfinals.

Before losing to Bellmont, Northern Ireland’s top-seeded Rock recorded two ton-plus averages, and Wade eliminated Callan Rydz, who was in the semi-finals on Monday, on his way to the round of eight.

Irish sensation O’Connor finished the quarterfinal lineup by eliminating first seed Dave Chisnall and then defeating five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld in the round of sixteen after falling behind 5-3.

The other Tour Card Holders, including Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, and Gary Anderson, were not competing in Tuesday’s event, and Dutch superstar Michael van Gerwen chose not attend.
