Smith and Cross ready to end England’s World Cup wait “If we play our best we win all day long.”

England began their World Cup of Darts campaign with an 8-4 victory over Latvia. Following that, the team’s confidence grew.

England, the tournament’s top seed, is a squad of world champions. Many people believe that Wales, led by Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton, is the favourite to win the tournament but Smith and Cross have other ideas.

The number one seeds knew that overall it wasn’t their best performance, but believe that they will beat the Welsh pair “If we play our best we win all day long.”

“That wasn’t our greatest performance but it’s what we needed. We needed to know we can win not playing our best,”

“The other team played for the last two days. I think we’ll be better tomorrow,” adds Rob Cross.

“Not putting the other teams down but they’re definitely favourites,” says Cross. “But the passion is there, the work rate is there, everything is there. If we get through, we’ll be alright this year.”

England have failed to win the World Cup of Darts since Phil Taylor retired, some feel that the form Smith and Cross are in at the moment this could be a fantastic chance to end the wait.

Smith is the world champion and world number one, while Cross has returned to winning way in 2023 with his maiden Euro Tour and winning on the Pro Tour.
