Wenig wins week 9 at the MODUS Super Series booking his place at Champions Week

Lukas Wenig was crowned Week Nine winner of the MODUS Super Series on Saturday, defeating John Henderson in the final to secure a place in Champions Week and the weekly £5,000 first prize.

Wenig, who entered the final having finished second in Group B on Thursday and Friday, won just one of his group phase matches, losing his opener to John Henderson before defeating Chris Gilliland to advance to the semi-finals, where he faced Neil Duff, whom he defeated 4-2, to book his place in the final.

Wenig won the £5,000 prize, which could be increased to £20,000 in Champions Week in a few weeks. He defeated John Henderson in the final 4-2 after losing to him by the same score in the group stage.

But it was in the semi-finals that he shone, averaging 103 against Neil Duff, while Henderson was a little unlucky to advance after surviving ten match darts.

In the decider, Wenig faced John Henderson for the second time on the night, and he eventually got his revenge on the Scotsman for his defeat earlier in the evening, winning 4-2 to claim the Week 9 crown, the £5,000 first prize, and a spot at Champions Week.
