2023 Grand Slam of Darts Draw Confirmed

The 2023 Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts will feature Michael Smith, James Wade, Krzysztof Ratajski, and Nathan Girvan, as well as Michael van Gerwen and Fallon Sherrock, with the group stage draw being complete.

The 32-player event will take place from November 11 to 19 at the WV Active Aldersley in Wolverhampton, with the players playing for the famous Eric Bristow Trophy and the £150,000 top prize.

Smith, the reigning champion, will lead Group A, which also includes three-time runner-up Wade, Poland’s number one Ratajski, and last year’s World Youth Championship finalist Girvan.

Smith won his first televised ranking title at this event last year, and the world number one will begin his title defence against Scottish prodigy Girvan on a high note.

Van Gerwen, a three-time Grand Slam champion, will meet Sherrock, a 2021 quarter-finalist, in a mouth-watering group stage clash as the Milton Keynes star makes her third successive Aldersley appearance.

In Group G, the duo will be joined by 2018 World Champion Rob Cross and Dutch newcomer Martijn Kleermaker, who won last week’s Tour Card Holder Qualifier in Barnsley.

Gerwyn Price, a three-time Grand Slam champion, will face Northern Ireland’s Nathan Rafferty in his first round match, while Ryan Searle and European Championship semi-finalist Gian van Veen will also compete in Group D.

Peter Wright, the newly crowned European Champion, will begin his quest for his first Grand Slam championship against the mysterious American Stowe Buntz, who qualified after winning last month’s CDC Continental Cup.

Wright, who finished second in 2017, 2019, and 2021, will compete in Group E alongside 2014 finalist Dave Chisnall and a resurgent Stephen Bunting.

In other news, Women’s World Matchplay winner Beau Greaves will make her Grand Slam debut against World Matchplay champion Nathan Aspinall, last year’s runner-up to Smith.

Greaves, who won 12 PDC Women’s Series titles in 2023, will compete in Group H alongside Australia’s former World Cup champion Damon Heta and German Darts Championship winner Ricardo Pietreczko.

World Grand Prix champion Luke Humphries leads an intriguing Group C that also includes Dutch standout Dirk van Duijvenbode, two-time runner-up Gary Anderson, and former World Cup finalist Steve Lennon from Ireland.

Wales’ World Cup winner Jonny Clayton and Masters champion Chris Dobey will compete in Group B, alongside World Youth Champion Josh Rock and the returning Berry van Peer, the 2023 Winmau Challenge Tour Order of Merit winner.

Meanwhile, the last two UK Open winners, Danny Noppert and Andrew Gilding, are joined in Group F by Northern Ireland’s Brendan Dolan and PDC Asian Champion Haruki Muramatsu.
