2024 World Grand Prix: Final Preview
32 players came to the Mattioli Arena in Leicester on Monday aiming to win the 2024 World Grand Prix. Now, just two remain.
Semi final Saturday saw Mike de Decker reach his maiden PDC TV final by sending home fellow countryman Dimitri Van den Bergh, while world number one and defending champion Luke Humphries produced an astonishing display to whitewash Ryan Joyce.
Which one of the two will lift the trophy this evening? We look at how both players reached the 2024 World Grand Prix Final.

Humphries looks to defend World Grand Prix title
The world number one is in yet another ranked major final. Shock horror.
Since winning this event 12 months ago, Luke Humphries has been a man on a mission. In that time, he’s only not been involved in one ranked major final, and has won five of the last seven ranked TV finals.
His title defence almost ended in round one, with Stephen Bunting winning the first set 3-0 and going 2-0 up in the second. Like the champion he is though, Cool Hand rallied, winning six legs out of the remaining seven to complete a remarkable comeback.
He then saw off Ricardo Pietrezcko 3-1, before defeating Jonny Clayton by the same score line, which featured a game changing 146 check out.

Saturday night though saw his most dominant display. At times, the Newbury ace looked genuinely unplayable, as he cracked in a 100.30 average en route to a whitewash set victory over Joyce, who himself hit an average of 94.42.
Humphries has said that retaining the World Grand Prix title will mean so much to him. So can he become the first player since Michael van Gerwen in 2018 and 2019 to achieve the feat?
Can De Decker deliver?
Standing in his way of winning the World Grand Prix for a second straight year is 28 year old Mike de Decker from Mechelen, Belgium.
Before a dart was thrown, De Decker was 36th in the world, qualifying 13th out of 16 on the Pro Tour Order of Merit. This week though, The Real Deal has lived up to his moniker in Leicester.
He survived match darts to beat Damon Heta in round one, condemning The Heat to his fourth straight round one exit at this event. He then followed up the win with back to back 3-0 victories against both Gary Anderson and two time World Grand Prix winner James Wade, before dispatching fellow Belgian and UK Open champion Van den Bergh 5-2 to reach his first ever major TV final.

De Decker will be at least 30th in the world by the end of the week, and has qualified for the 2024 Grand Slam. Can he do what Humphries did 12 months ago and go on to lift his first ever ranking TV title, and move himself to world number 25?
After a week of high drama, we’re left with two players bidding for glory in Leicester. The only time these two have met on TV was in the last 32 of the Players Championship Finals, where Cool Hand came through 6-4 against The Real Deal.
Will Luke Humphries repeat as World Grand Prix champion? Or can Mike de Decker become just the second ever Belgian player to win a PDC TV title?
The action gets underway at 20.00 BST.
