Beau Greaves Betfred Women’s World Matchplay Champion

The second edition of the Betfred Women’s World Matchplay took place on Sunday and Beau is the second name on the trophy.

Greaves Defeats Suzuki

Beau Greaves beats Mikuru Suzuki 6-1 to be the second winner of the Women’s World Matchplay. The win secures her place in the 2023 Grand Slam of Darts and 2024 World Championship.

Beau was in complete control and this was partly down to Mikuru being unable to find that first round form which saw her average over 90.

Suzuki was only allowed one match dart in the first three legs, but leg four allowed four opportunities in which Suzuki was able to provide,

Beau eased to one leg away before missing two match darts and allowing Suzuki a leg on the board.

Beau Greaves secured the win with a 14 dart leg to a huge roar from the Blackpool crowd.

Beau won her opening match with ease defeating Noa-Lynn van Leuven 4-0 and that was followed with a 92 average in defeating Robyn Byrne 5-3.

Suzuki’s route to the final saw her with the highest ever average at the Women’s World Matchplay 92.16 in beating Aileen de Graaf 4-2 followed by a 5-3 win over Lisa Ashton.

Elsewhere During Women’s Matchplay

The Queen of The Palace, Fallon Sherrock lost a last leg shootout to Lisa Ashton. Fallon returned to the iconic stage after lifting the trophy last year but was unable to find the form that saw her become the first ever winner.

Robyn Byrne secured a last leg win over Rhian O’Sullivan, taking out 95 to win a game in which Rhian had the highest ever average in this tournament, until it got bettered by Mikuru Suzuki.
