Gary Anderson clocks up 30th PDC ranking title with glory in Hildesheim “I’ve been struggling since December so it’s nice to win one”

On Monday, Gary Anderson won his 30th PDC ranking title at the Players Championship Seven in Hildesheim.

Anderson defeated Adam Lipscombe 8-3 in the final, ending Lipscombe’s fairytale run to a title in only his eighth event since earning a Tour Card for the first time in January.

Anderson defeated World Grand Prix winner Mike De Decker in the semi-finals after posting three ton-plus averages earlier in the day to end a six-month wait for a PDC trophy.

“The last few months has been hard for me,” admitted the two-time World Champion.

“I’ve been struggling since December so it’s nice to win one.

“I’m still enjoying playing darts but sometimes my body doesn’t play ball; I’ll keep going.

“Fair play to Adam, I expect him to do well and put a hole in the rankings.”

Anderson dropped only seven legs in his first four matches, winning over Connor Scutt, Andy Boulton, Marvin van Velzen, and Tavis Dudeney.

The Scot survived a last-leg decider against Krzysztof Ratajski in the quarter-finals before winning comfortably over De Decker and Lipscombe to claim the title.

Lipscombe, a surprise package at Qualifying School in January, defeated Damon Heta, Dirk van Duijvenbode, and William O’Connor in a thrilling run to the final.

Monday’s action also included three nine-dart finishes in Hildesheim, with Ryan Searle scoring perfection in his first leg against Joshua Richardson.

Dirk van Duijvenbode and William O’Connor also threw nine darts against Thomas Lovely and Jimmy van Schie, respectively.
