Gerwyn Price hails Luke Littler as the best “Michael was good when he was young, Phil Taylor’s brilliant but I think he’s different.”
Price extended his astonishing winning record over Luke Litter to six matches during the Premier League in Nottingham. After Price told us that no one in the PDC can stop Littler.
Price, a seven-time major winner, has moved up to third place after picking up his second nightly win, tying Luke Humphries and Littler at two each.
Price praised Littler as the best player in the world after his sixth consecutive victory against the teenager and predicted that he will break Taylor’s record of 16 World titles.
“I sit on a table with James Wade and Jim Williams at ProTours and I said I think he’ll beat Phil Taylor’s record unless it’s somebody that comes in the new generation that’s going to stop him. I think it’s three or four players now that can beat him. But if those players go out of tournaments, he’s winning. Everybody, like you say, everybody sort of falls apart against him. He is that good.”
“Michael (van Gerwen) was good when he was young, Phil Taylor’s brilliant but I think he’s different.”

The Welshman was superb on Thursday night, defeating Littler 6-3 after thrashing Michael van Gerwen 6-1 and beating Stephen Bunting.
He has surpassed Humphries at the top of the standings and is in prime position to make the play-offs.
Incredibly, Price averaged significantly less than Littler in the match, scoring 94 to the Englishman’s far superior 103.9.
“It was more important for me to get that first win against Stephen (Bunting). I tried so hard, the crowd was a bit difficult today but it’s nothing I haven’t had in the past. I got through it, my adrenaline got me through it. I think the crowd actually got me through it as if they hadn’t had got my heart beating and me getting the way I was, they actually got me through it even though they were a bit against me,” said Price.
“Relax a bit against Michael van Gerwen, played a bit better. I really wanted to win that final obviously for points and to get a sixth win against Luke, I’m not sure how long that’s going to lost as he’s a brilliant player and I respect him massively. That’s probably why I play good against him.”
“I think he just falls a little bit against me, sometimes I do play really well against him like I did in Bahrain and a couple of times I played really well. Tonight I didn’t so it was probably more in his head over the way I was playing but I hope that continues.”
“I’m enjoying the game at the minute. Winning does breed confidence. But right from the start even though I lost the first game, I just kept positive. Exeter, Brighton, no points. Today I really wanted to. I’m positive that’s why I’m playing so well.”
