Beau Greaves had to settle for a win and a runner up spot after being denied back to back to back victories in the Women’s Series by a rampant Suzuki who comfortably won the final of event 8. This was Greaves’s second series event win of the year having clinched event 6 on Saturday.

Beau Greaves managed to win the Women’s Series event 7 without dropping a single leg. She had to play some big names in the women’s game in both events to get over the winning line. In event 7 Beau Greaves averaged over 100 in defeating four time world champion Lisa Ashton in a tasty last 16 match. The third time this weekend that Greaves had got the better of Ashton before beating the Queen of the Palace Fallon Sherrock 5-0 in the final averaging over 98 in the process.

There was no stopping Greaves on the way to her second Women’s Series event of the weekend

Although she didn’t drop a leg there was a couple of missed opportunities for some of her opponents to pinch a few legs but they weren’t able to capitalise on those moments. In her first two matches of the day she matched her average of 80.16 in getting passed Laura van der Berg in round 1 and Samantha Lewis in round 2. In her last 32 match she picked up her game averaging over 91 in defeating Chelsea Campbell before easing past the Lancashire Rose in the last 16.

In the quarter-final she saw off fellow English woman Wendy Reinstadtler before getting the better of Irish woman Robyn Byrne in the semi. She completed her by defeating Fallon Sherrock.

Suzuki won herfifth Women
Suzuki clinched victory in Event 8 denying Greaves a third title on the trot.

Mikuru Suzuki didn’t quite have it as easy as Greaves did as the Japanese star clinched as she also claimed her second Women’s Series event win of the year. This was her sixth victory in the Women’s Series.

The 2 time world champion faced 3 last leg deciders against Kim Holden in the first round, Roos van der Velde in the last 16 and Deta Hedman in the last eight. In between those matches she beat Desiree Geel 4-2 in the second round and Snezana Veljkovic 4-1 in the third.

But it was in the latter round where Miracle turned up the heat. In the semi-final she beat Lisa Ashton 5-1 after Ashton had got to the latter stages in all 4 events of the weekend before beating Greaves by the same score line despite the English star having the higher average in the final

Else where it was a good day for Irish star Robyn Byrne who managed to make it into a semi-final and quarter-final. The Women’s Series events return to Wigan on the 15th and 16th of June.
