Leighton Bennett suspended from all DRA events following suspicious betting.
The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) released the news that Leighton Bennett and Billy Warriner are now suspended and have a case to answer following suspicious betting on games played at the MODUS Super Series.
On September 8, 2023, the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) detected illicit betting on the following Darts matches played during the Modus Super Series.
- Leighton Bennett v Mindaugas Barauskas played on 06/09/2023
- Leighton Bennett v Benjamin Drue-Reus played on 06/09/2023
- Leighton Bennett v Ryan Harrington played on 08/09/2023
- Leighton Bennett v Mindaugas Barauskas Played on 08/09/2023
The Darts Regulation Authority, with assistance from the Gambling Commission’s Sports Betting Intelligence Unit, undertook an extensive examination into the allegations. The DRA Chairman, Nigel Mawer, has now determined that Leighton Bennett and Billy Warriner both have a case to answer for a number of serious violations of the DRA Rules.
As a result of this decision-making, Leighton Bennett and Billy Warriner are prohibited from attending or competing in DRA-governed events until the hearing or hearings are completed and the case is resolved. Both players have the option to appeal the suspension decision.
Their case will be referred to the DRA Disciplinary Committee, which will hold a formal hearing on a date to be determined.
There is no indication that the other players in the relevant matches were involved in any manner.
