Littler books Premier League Darts Play-Off place and creates more history
Luke Littler created yet more history by becoming the first player ever to win five Premier League Darts nights in the eight player knockout format.
The defending Premier League Champion came through three tough matches in Birmingham, eventually capping off his evening by defeating Michael van Gerwen 6-4 to get revenge for last year’s final in this venue, where the World Champion lost to the Dutchman.
It also mathematically confirms his place in the 2025 Premier League Darts Play-Offs, and puts serious daylight between himself and the rest as he bids to finish top for the second year in a row. Despite losing the final, it was a successful night for MvG, who moved into the top four and one point clear of the chasing pack.

Winner headline
Van Gerwen took advantage of missed darts from Littler in the opening two legs to move 2-0 in front. Both then held, leaving The Green Machine 3-1 and halfway to the title.
Littler though fought back, winning the next two legs to equalise, after van Gerwen missed a dart to go 4-2 ahead. The Nuke then pinged 81 on double 13 to go in front for the first time. He then squandered a dart at the bull for a 164 to break in the next leg, as van Gerwen hit double eight to level again.
The Nuke then held in the ninth leg, before both missed darts in the tenth leg. However, the defending champion hit tops to eventually get over the line 6-4, creating the history making moment in the process.
Littler’s path to get to his first Premier League Darts final since week eight was full of drama. He came through two last leg deciders to make the final. He came from 4-2 down to defeat bottom placed player Stephen Bunting, before battling through against Nathan Aspinall, winning the final leg against the darts.
Van Gerwen dug deep to reach his second final of 2025. He started the night by grinding out a 6-4 win over Rob Cross, before missing seven match darts against Gerwyn Price. Despite this, he got over the line on double two to dispatch last week’s winner 6-3.

What else happened?
The loss for Aspinall against Littler saw him slip out of the Premier League Darts top four.
He did though get two crucial points against Chris Dobey in his quarter final. The Asp Asp went 5-1 up, before missing seven match darts in the next two legs. However, he eventually got over the line to win, ending the night just one point off the Play-Offs.

Price also got two more crucial points to make his place in the Play-Offs more secure. He saw off Luke Humphries in a last leg decider, despite Cool Hand averaging 107.46. The Iceman was 5-4, but back to back checkouts of 91 and 102 saw him take victory, following up from his win last week against Humphries in the Liverpool final.

The 2025 Premier League Darts continues next week in Leeds.
