The second and final day of the World Seniors Matchplay has arrived, with the final eight players going head-to-head, and only one player will be crowned the winner.

The Afternoon Session commences at 1 pm BST time. All four quarter-final matches will be played before the Evening Session concludes the tournament with the semi-final and final. Both the semi-final and the final will be first-to-nine-leg contests.

World Seniors Darts Matchplay: Afternoon Session Order of Play

Richie Howson vs Neil Duff

The first matchup is a repeat of 2023’s quarter-final matchup, where former Lakeside champion Duff edged out Howson 11-9. On Friday both players defeated their first round opponents Trina Gulliver and Chris Mason 8-4 respectively.

Duff’s superior performance on the outer ring puts him through despite Mason’s impressive scoring, which could be a massive factor in this contest. He boasts a superior head-to-head record over Howson, but Duffman will still have a tough task on his hands due to Howson’s success on the World Seniors circuit so far.

John Henderson vs David Cameron

Henderson dug in deep to defeat his long-time friend John O’Shea in their first round encounter, with the Scot expressing himself he had to improve for this tie. Henderson famously grew into the tournament and improved as the weekend progressed earlier this year on route to him becoming World Seniors Champion, but he knows he has a tough test this afternoon.

Cameron dominated against the struggling Painter on Friday, winning 8-3 after racing into a 5-0 lead. The Canadian has previously won a TV title on the circuit therefore either player are within a shout of going all the way.

Leonard Gates vs Lisa Ashton

Both Gates and Ashton won their respective matches against James Richardson and Paul Hogan in dominant fashion, but the pair haven’t met in a World Seniors event thus far. Their last match was at the Modus Super Series with the three time World Seniors TV winner Gates winning 4-3.

Ashton will be looking to make it to back-to-back World Seniors major semi-finals to bolster her darting CV, with the Lancashire Rose aiming to knock out the defending champion and go on to become the first women to win a World Seniors TV tournament.

Robert Thornton vs Martin Adams

The final afternoon match is between two-time PDC major winner Thornton and three-time Lakeside winner Adams. Both players go head-to-head for the second time in as many weeks following a recent encounter in Portsmouth on the Modus Super Series.

Both Thornton and Adams dug in deep to progress through, with the former winning in overtime due to rival John Part forcing the tie behind first to eight legs. Adams will be wanting to enact revenge from the defeat in Portsmouth to make another semi-final appearance.
