The 2020 Sports Stars Fishing Championship will take place on Tuesday 18th August, at Tunnel Barn Farm. Formally known as the PDC Fishing Championship, this years event will be sponsored by Target Darts. The day is a charity event raising money for Parkinson’s UK, and will see starts from all sporting backgrounds compete.

The Sports Stars Fishing Championship is organised by JBD Events, and will broadcast on ITV4. Sadly like all events at the current time, there will be no fans at this year’s championships due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

So far the list of stars that will be competing is, PDC Chairman Barry Hearn, Eddie Hearn, the 16 times champion of the world Phil Taylor, Gary Anderson, Michael Smith, Adrian Lewis, Rob Cross, James Wade, Garry Plummer, Darren Webster from the darting world.

Snooker stars Steve Davis and Mark Willimas will also be fishing along with former Arsenal and England star David Seaman. A full list of anglers can be found here.

2019

In 2019 the championship was won by Sky Sports Jimmy Bullard, with a total weight of 82.02lbs. Runner up was Team Target captain Adrian Lewis with a total weight of 81lbs.

PDC chairman Barry Hearn will be one of the favourites to win the 2020 title; Hearn is a keen fisherman away from his business activities. For those that follow Hearn on Twitter, you will have seen some of his catches of the last year. If he gets a good peg draw, then Hearn could take some stopping on 18th August.

Although all the stars want to win the title, I’m sure there will be another great turnout and raise some much needed incredible money for Parkinson’s UK. Be sure to keep an eye out for the fundraising link on social media in the near future. TV dates on ITV 4 will be released in the next few weeks.
